HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER
Planning a wedding is like a full-time job. There are so many details that go into every wedding. Unless you have a Type A personality like I do, and who happened to start my own event planning business even before I got engaged, it’s better to leave the planning to a professional. A professional planner does this every weekend, and she/he knows what to anticipate on the wedding day. She/he will also help you bring your vision to life. It is YOUR day, you should be pampered and enjoy every second of it with your families and friends instead of overseeing the vendors setting up, and worrying about all the little details. Learn to let go and have a great time! If you are stressed out, you will look stressed out in all of your photos. We want you to have fun, and when you look back on your wedding day photos in the years to come, you will have nothing but amazing memories to relive in.
TRUST YOUR VENDORS
By the time you put together your entire team of vendors, you have already met with each one of them and interviewed all of them, so make sure you trust them on the wedding day to do their jobs and to make everything easier for you. Be open with your ideas and expectations, but also trust your vendors’ expertise. They do weddings for a living and through their many years of experience, they will definitely have your best interest in mind.
REMEMBER TO EAT
A lot of times, our couples pack so many programs of events into their wedding reception that they barely have time to eat their dinner. Your wedding day is a VERY long day from you getting up early to have your hair and makeup done, to the very last song of the evening which may be past midnight.. we are talking easily a 15 to 16-hour day. It’s important that you eat a big breakfast or brunch, and then definitely allow some time at the reception to enjoy your dinner. If you are hungry all the time like I am, carry some energy bars with you throughout the day so you are not starving… and don’t forget to stay hydrated and drink lots of water!
YOU CAN’T PLEASE EVERYONE
Your wedding is not about your parents or your extended family or your friends. It is about the two of you, and no matter what you do, you just can’t please everyone. So besides having a few choice options for your dinner entrees, don’t spend all of your time during your planning thinking about what everyone else needs. It is NOT their wedding. Everyone will have a great time and so should you!
